The battle to defend Life in the 2020 election is well underway in Texas. Radical anti-Life candidates have announced challenges to strongly Pro-Life legislators who reflect Texas values. The 2018 Midterm Elections showed that the well-funded abortion mob in California and New York will stop at nothing to try to push radical anti-Life candidates in our Pro-Life state.
What happens if the abortion mob gains a foothold in Texas? We’ve had a glimpse: News broke of one pro-abortion politician’s antics that show how extreme and hostile the abortion mob has become. People across the nation were shocked to see Pennsylvania anti-Life Democrat Brian Sims bullying and harassing minors and an elderly woman peacefully praying outside a Pennsylvania abortion mill.
The abortion mob has become so brazen that Sims was not caught on camera by stunned bystanders; instead, Sims gleefully filmed himself shouting at peaceful Pro-Lifers, threatening to dox underage Pro-Life girls, and bullying Pro-Life citizens peacefully offering alternatives to mothers seeking elective abortion.
In one video, Sims approaches a woman peacefully praying and tells his audience, “Today’s protester, now she is an old white lady who is going to try to avoid showing you her face.” As Sims aggressively tries to catch the woman’s face on camera he says, “But the same laws, luckily, that protect her from being out here also protect me from showing you who she is. And so my hope is that you’ll donate $100 for every extra hour that this woman is out here telling people what is right for their bodies.”
Later in the video, Sims says, “If you know who this woman is and you can give me her address, we’ll protest out in front of her home. Let’s go protest out of her house and tell her what’s right for her body.”
He repeatedly and belligerently demands, “How many children have you clothed today? How about many children have you put shoes on their feet today? Have you fed any children today or have you just stood out in front of a Planned Parenthood shaming people for something they have a Constitutional right to do.”
Sidewalk counselors offer vital resources to women seeking elective abortion. While anti-Life Sims shouts, “Shame on you! Shame! Shame!” at a woman peacefully praying, the reality is that many mothers seeking elective abortion do so because they feel they have no other choice. Studies show that 79% of post-abortive women were not told of available alternatives when making an abortion decision. Sims’ abuse harms not only the peaceful Pro-Lifer but also the women entering an abortion mill who want and need alternatives to violently ending the life of their preborn child.
In another video, Sims films himself demanding the identities of Pro-Life teen girls. A mother and the three teens are seen with Sims explaining, “What we’ve got here is a bunch of protesters. Bunch of pseudo-Christian protesters who have been out here shaming young girls for being here. And so here’s the deal. I’ve got a $100 to anyone who will identify any of these three [teen girls].”
The mother interrupts Sims’ aggressive monologue to say, “Hi — we’re actually just praying for babies, and we believe women deserve more.”
Sims ignores the mother and the response from the teens and instead tries to bully another Pro-Lifer. Sims says he’ll give $100 to anyone who can identify the man; when the man calmly responds with his name and address, Sims fails to give him the $100 and instead demands, “What makes you think that it’s your job to tell women what’s right for their bodies? And the truth is I’m not really asking ’cause I don’t care. Shame on you.”
In an astonishing video Sims posted on Twitter after national backlash to his abusive harassment of peaceful Pro-Lifers, Sims did not apologize for his actions and instead tried to claim he was justified. Sims is not simply an isolated abortion extremist or an outlier; he is the face of the abortion mob and the future of the anti-Life Democratic party. Live Action shows that Sims won an award from top abortion group NARAL and cozied up to Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards for photo-ops. If the abortion lobby gains ground in Texas, emboldened anti-Life radicals like Sims will follow.
Although some Texans may be tempted to think that 2020 is a long way off and that Pro-Lifers will ultimately win in the polls, now is not the time to be lax. We have seen just how far the abortion mob will go to gain power, and we know that lives are on the line if we lose.
