Led by Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, The Texas Senate passed the first Pro-Life bill of this 84th Session of the Texas Legislature. Senator Larry Taylor (R-Friendswood) fended off weakening amendments to SB 575, the insurance reform bill to remove automatic coverage of abortion in health insurance plans. Senator Taylor was both firm and compassionate and spoke about protecting consumers from subsidizing the abortion of others.
The Texas House has scheduled one Pro-Life bill for floor debate for this week, and more bills are promised. With deadlines quickly approaching, there is no more room for games or errors.
