Beaumont woman Carolyn Jones was removed from her ventilator against her family’s will under the Texas 10-Day Rule at approximately 2 p.m. at Memorial Hermann Southwest in Houston.

Donald Jones and his daughter, Kina, watched powerlessly as the Texas 10-Day Rule sanctioned the removal of a ventilator from their beloved wife and mother, Carolyn Jones, against their wishes.

A dozen family members and invited guests, including Texas Right to Life’s Director of Media and Communication Kim Schwartz, gathered at Carolyn’s bedside at Memorial Hermann Southwest.

The family begged, “Please don’t do this,” between heartbreaking sobs, as hospital staff turned the switches.

Carolyn is still alive as of 7:50 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2019, struggling nearly six hours after her breathing assistance was removed.  The family asked for her respiratory secretions to be suctioned, and the hospital refused and told them to do that themselves.

The family was informed this afternoon by hospital staff that if Carolyn survives the night breathing on her own, the hospital will stop Carolyn’s dialysis.  The Jones family is categorically opposed to removing dialysis. Even before her stroke Carolyn received dialysis treatment. “As a former hospice worker, I know dying by removal of dialysis is a horrible way to die.  They’ve already removed her ventilator. If she continues to fight and live, why on earth would these people STILL want to kill my mom?!” Kina told Texas Right to Life. The family is mystified that the hospital would move to kill a patient who is disabled though not dying.

Moments before the hospital seized Carolyn’s care, Donald and Kina pleaded Texans to ask their state legislators to repeal the 10-Day Rule.  “It’s too late for my mom, but the Legislature can save someone else’s loved one by ending the 10-Day Rule,” said Kina, expressing shock that hospitals can kill sick people rather than treat them.

Vulnerable patients need your help to survive the deadly 10-Day Rule.  They may have no fighting chance without you.  Give today to the Texas Right to Life Family Assistance Fund to protect patients from death panels.

  1. Wow. Is this the government legislating life and death or what? Wonder if this is part of the health care act? Shameful.

Some “nice” way to thank a hero for his service to his country. Send the forgers and his doctors to war, let them learn.

This is awful to deny this woman treatment. Please repeal this law!

It’s all about money. It all boils down to the insurance companies. The insurance companies run the country. If the insurance company doesnt want to pay. They send thier lobbyists to Capitol hill and bribe our Congress with money, trips, women, booze ect for them to pass laws to benefit their pocketbook. Too bad Trump can only be in office for eight years. Maybe we can get another Republican non-politician in the office in 2024.

This is denying care for God children doctors were given the knowledge and skills need to care for the sick and dying not refuse care needed
God is the one who decides our time of death. This is unthinkable refusing care God have mercy on your soles.

I have a brother that was hit by a drunk driver, my family was told to put him in a nursing. My mom refused, the wreck happened in 1989 and even though the road was hard my brother can do everything but walk. I know God was not ready for him but I also it was family LOVE and CARE that has kept him this long. I know Kina and her mom and it may not help them but the 10 day rule when someone is fighting to live but the hospital is refusing to give her care is……HEARTLESS. ONLY GOD!

This is the future of “health care for all” by the satanic legislators. This is unacceptable and unconscionable.
When they control your “health” they complete the control over every aspect of our lives and deaths.

Wait, what I am getting here is that we are not able to decide to die if we are terminally ill, but if the hospital or whatever thinks we are overstaying our welcome on a ventilator, then they can off our butts. Well, I know a guy who was on a ventilator for over a month after a motor cycle accident. They kept telling his daughter to take him off. She kept fighting for him. Thank God she did. He is now just fine and back at work.

  8. How dare someone other than the family make a decision like this? This is plain murder!

I know Carolyn Jones and she is a fighter Love You Carolyn.

  10. What happen to the oath that the doctors take to care for the patient .My doctor proudly displays the plaque on his wall. But now none of them stand behind it if it was there family would they feel the same. But we all will have to give an account to God believers or non believers.

Obviously we’re not dying quick enough for the goverment.

It is inhumane treatment. Animals are treated with more dignity than humans. GOD is judge and jury and I pray she receives a supernatural healing so doctors and staff will realize WHO IS ALPHA AND OMEGA….GOD HAVE MERCY..
