The Rundown on 2020’s Most Anti-Life Candidates

Reading Time: 3 minutes

The field is already crowded!  With the 2020 election less than two years away, more than 450 candidates have already registered with the Federal Election Commission to run for president.

The November 3 election is still more than 600 days away, but many Democrats have already thrown their hats in the ring, hoping to win their party’s nomination, beat President Donald Trump, and advance their anti-Life agenda. Some have officially announced their campaigns, some have formed exploratory committees (the first step before a campaign launch), and some are expected to run in the coming months.

Julian Castro

Julian Castro, who announced his bid Jan 12, 2019, is a familiar name in Texas politics.  Castro served as mayor of San Antonio from 2009 until 2014, when he joined President Barack Obama’s cabinet as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.  He has a twin brother, Congressman Joaquin Castro (D-San Antonio), and a long record of anti-Life positions.

As Mayor of San Antonio, Castro supported Sen. Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth) in her campaign against Governor Greg Abbott in 2014.  Abortion queen” Davis first gained national attention for her filibuster against life-saving legislation in the Texas Senate, so Castro’s support for her radical agenda is telling of his anti-Life beliefs.  He believes that elective abortions should remain legal even after 20 weeks post-fertilization, the point at which science has proven that preborn children feel pain.

Kamala Harris

Senator Kamala Harris (D-California) announced her candidacy Jan 21, Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  She joined the Senate in 2017 after serving as California attorney general from 2011-2017.  Harris is considered one of the party’s strongest contenders, having tied Bernie Sanders’s record for most funds raised within 24 hours of an announcement.

Harris is one of the most savagely anti-Life members of the Democratic caucus.  As attorney general, she received thousands of dollars from Planned Parenthood, then targeted Pro-Life activist David Daleiden, whose undercover videos exposed Planned Parenthood’s horrific selling of aborted babies’ body parts for profit.  She then worked with Planned Parenthood on legislation (AB 1671) to silence him and keep him from exposing the awful truth.

She has also faced criticism for discrimination against Pro-Life Catholics.  She has a 100% rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America, believes parents should not even be notified when their underage daughters seek abortions, and opposed protecting preborn children after 20 weeks.

Kirsten Gillibrand and Tulsi Gabbard

Also running are Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-New York) and Representative Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii), both of whom are highly rated by Planned Parenthood and NARAL.

Elizabeth Warren

The most high profile of the candidates who have formed committees, but not officially announced yet is Democratic establishment leader Senator Elizabeth Warren (D — Massachusetts), who announced her exploratory committee on Dec 31, 2018.  After being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2012, Warren was appointed Vice Chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus, where her job included forcing Democrats to tote the radical party line, particularly on abortion.

Warren has supported legislation that would prevent Pro-Life groups from filing for bankruptcy when slapped with massive court levies, has opposed any Pro-Life Court nominees, and believes in forcing churches and religious groups to provide abortion-inducing drugs.

Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke

Finally, though he has not made any official announcement, all eyes are on Representative Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke (D-El Paso).  He has stoked rumors of a presidential bid for months and has amassed more than $70 million since he was defeated by Pro-Life champion Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas).  O’Rourke was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012, but made a name for himself as a liberal darling by launching a failed Senate campaign against conservative stalwart Ted Cruz.

O’Rourke’s anti-Life record is one of the worst.  He has co-sponsored bills stripping states of the right to pass any Pro-Life laws whatsoever, has voted to keep aborting the preborn after 20 weeks when they can feel pain, has voted to keep taxpayer funding for elective abortions, and has garnered a 100% rating from both Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America.

Each of these radical candidates represents a unique threat to preborn children across America, and must be stopped from perpetuating a culture of death.
