Texas Right to Life to hold press conference with conservative members of Texas House

MEDIA ADVISORY: Texas Right to Life to hold press conference with conservative members of Texas House

Austin, Texas—May 1, 2017: Tomorrow, Texas Right to Life will join conservative members of the Texas House members, and other conservative groups for a press conference.  The press conference will take place in the House Press Room. The topic will be the status of Texas Right to Life’s Priority Legislation in the 85th Session of the Texas Legislature.

Texas Right to Life is the oldest and largest Pro-Life organization in Texas with a proven track record of lobbying for Pro-Life reforms in the Texas Legislature.  This session, only one of Texas Right to Life’s priority bills have been heard in the House.  Neither of the major priority Pro-Life bills that passed the Senate in March have even been referred to a House committee. Passing the Texas Senate in a bipartisan vote, the House has not moved to consider the companion bill of the Dismemberment Abortion Ban despite having 66 House Co-Authors.  As the 85th Session enters the final months, Texas Right to Life’s Priority Legislation is in danger.  Vulnerable Texans—the preborn, pregnant women, and vulnerable patients—cannot wait another two years for the next legislative session.

For the press conference, Texas Right to Life will be joined by Senator Charles Perry, Representatives Stephanie Klick, Greg Bonnen, Matt Schaeffer, and many others. Representatives of Concerned Women for America, Texas Eagle Forum, and Southern Baptist of Texas Convention will also speak.

WHO: Texas Right to Life; Representative Matt Schaeffer; Dana Hodges, Concerned Women for America; Trayce Bradford, Texas Eagle Forum; Cindy Asmussen, Southern Baptist of Texas Convention.

WHERE: House Press Room – 2W.6

WHEN: Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.

WHAT: Texas Right to Life Priority Pro-Life Legislation is not moving in the Texas House.  None of the key Pro-Life Bills passed by the Senate have even been referred to a House Committee.
