Sold as a bill that protects hospitalized patients, HB 3074 (as of the hearing) includes troubling language and loopholes that do not prevent denial of food and water.
With our decades of experience working alongside patients and families who are being denied medical treatment, we recognize the need for some incremental reforms, but HB 3074 is not a step forward. The bill author, Representative Drew Springer (R-Gainesville), is still working to address Texas Right to Life’s concerns.
