Susan G. Komen Foundation pours money into Planned Parenthood

Well-known breast cancer charity, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, succumbed to political pressure from abortion activists and restored funding to Planned Parenthood, America's largest abortion committer, today.

Texas Right to Life’s director, Elizabeth Graham, comments on Komen’s decision:

“Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s decision proves that Komen’s affiliation with Planned Parenthood was never about doing what was best for women’s health, but about legitimizing Planned Parenthood’s killing of unborn children.  Komen’s leader, Nancy Brinker — who once served on the board of Planned Parenthood — has handed out millions of dollars to America’s largest abortion committer for mammograms that Planned Parenthood does not even perform.

“Planned Parenthood claims to hold a monopoly on healthcare for low-income and uninsured women, but the number of federally-qualified health clinics that offer comprehensive care for men, women, and children, vastly outnumber Planned Parenthood centers.  Additionally, most women do not want the money they've donated to Komen to be filtered to the abortion industry nor walk into an abortion business for care.”

Susan G. Komen for the Cure confirmed on Tuesday that the charity’s grant guidelines had been rewritten to exclude organizations that were under local, state, or federal investigation.  The new guidelines had also specified that grantees must actually perform the services for which the grant money is allotted.

Today’s amended guidelines state that the investigation must be criminal and conclusive in order to disqualify grantees.  It is unclear at this time if the stipulation that the services must be performed by the grantee is still in tact.

Planned Parenthood is currently under congressional investigation for alleged misuse of federal funds and the cover-up of sex crimes against minor girls.  The organization also does not perform mammograms.

However, the relentless campaign against Komen from pro-abortion advocates this week has paid off with Komen’s reversal of its Tuesday decision.
