Planned Parenthood, poised to lose late-term abortion revenue, says 20-week ban is "appalling"

Appalling.”  That is what Planned Parenthood called the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Actan abortion limit that would protect second- and third-trimester children from being dismembered alive.  Why is this “appalling” to Planned Parenthood?  According to Planned Parenthood: because rape and incest survivors are afforded time to receive follow-up medical care and law enforcement intervention before undergoing the abortion.  In reality?  Planned Parenthood is appalled because the measure will cut to the core of their all-important abortion revenue.

By losing their ability to commit abortions past the halfway point in pregnancy, Planned Parenthood will lose their most valuable clientele: late-term abortion patients.  Late-term abortions are the most expensive kind.  You see, as a baby develops, his will to live and ability to resist death and expulsion from his mother’s womb increase.  (Read: He is harder to “terminate.”)  His bones ossify, making crushing them and pulling them apart difficult.  His skull is bigger and harder, meaning that he may need to be delivered whole (instead of in pieces), requiring abortionists to spend time dilating the mother’s cervix so that she can be induced to deliver her dead child as if she were giving birth.  Except with this procedure, she will be “giving death,” so to speak.

But how deep of an impact can this removal of late-term abortions from their “services” menu possibly have on Planned Parenthood, if abortions comprise “only 3%” of the services they offer, and late-term abortion is only a smaller fraction of those?  A deep impact, if one considers that more than 50% of Planned Parenthood’s client fees come from abortion.  And many late-term abortions cost more than $10,000.

Planned Parenthood is a profit-driven business, and that requires callous disregard for the victims who funnel that revenue.  In fact, the sentiment goes beyond disregard.  Planned Parenthood’s disdain for these fully-formed humans is so pronounced that they have argued before elected officials that they should be allowed to leave babies born alive after failed abortion attempts on an operating table to die.  The legality of abortion on-demand through all nine months of pregnancy was Planned Parenthood’s diabolical, anti-Life dream come true.  And Pro-Life America (yes – a majority) is shattering that heretofore untouched dream.

Planned Parenthood thinks a 20-week abortion ban is “appalling.”  We think Planned Parenthood’s disregard for humanity is actually the most appalling element of the whole debate.
