Pastor talks abortion, adoption, President Obama

Dr. Voddie Baucham, pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church in Spring, Texas, is the father of eight children. Six of his children are adopted. One of his adopted children was conceived through rape; another by incest.

“When people talk about being Pro-Life except in the cases of rape and incest…it says that all of my children should have been allowed to live — except those two,” Dr. Baucham told Texas Right to Life. “I’m not willing to accept that.”

The issue of abortion is one that is deeply personal to Dr. Baucham, and not just because of his children. Although he is currently a well-known and respected pastor who holds advanced degrees in theology, he came from humble beginnings. He grew up the child of a single mother who “worked hard and often” to provide for him.

Dr. Baucham said, “I am one of those children who people talk about when they talk about abortion. They talk about growing up without a father. They talk about growing up poor. They talk about the difficulties children will have if they are brought into this world. All of that is true. But all of that is also my life.

“And so what people are saying when they talk like that is that a life like mine, early on, is one that is somehow not worthy of even existing. And I find that personally insulting.”

Although many Americans, including our current president, celebrate abortion, Dr. Baucham said that there are still “thousands of prophets who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” He encourages Pro-Life Texans to attend Texas Right to Life's Celebration of Life, which he has had the pleasure to attend in the past.
