Life and Love: Alicia and William Hoza (University of Texas – Austin)

In fall 2016, Alicia advertised UT’s Pro-Life club, Horns for Life, in like-minded UT Facebook groups. William noticed one of her posts in the Longhorn Catholic Facebook group and decided to attend a general meeting, during which Alicia was recruiting volunteers to table on campus. William volunteered. “I really liked that he was stepping up to help,” said Alicia. “He ended up being the only non-officer who volunteered and I was impressed.”

They became friends that semester and began dating in January 2017. William and Alicia started a Facebook group in early 2018 called “What’s my Pro-Life Line?” geared toward making Pro-Life apologetics accessible to people without the time or the means to attend seminars. “Alicia pitched the idea, which I thought was great,” said William. “We like being able to make healthy dialogue surrounding the abortion debate accessible to everyone.” Alicia and William married in November 2019 and remain in Austin.
