Junior high and high school students express Pro-Life views in essay contest

Houston, TX–January 23, 2017: Texas Right to Life is thrilled to announce the winners of the 2017 Pro-Life Essay Contest.
Winners in the junior category:
1st place — Ashley Osbahr of Tomball
2nd place — Cathey Wenske of Moulton
3rd place — John Wenske of Moulton

Winners in the senior category:
1st place — Peter Stockton of Tomball
2nd place — Ruthy Vaughn of League City
3rd place — Aleka Neptune of Austin

Contestants were asked to respond to the prompt “Why are you Pro-Life?” in 300-500 words and were split into a junior category (7th-9th grades) and a senior category.  Essays were scored on originality, content, grammatical accuracy, and use of compassionate Pro-Life language.  The top three scoring essays in each category received cash prizes.  All entries have now been sent to National Right to Life to compete in the National Right to Life Pro-Life Essay Contest.

Texas Right to Life’s Pro-Life Essay Contest offers teenagers the opportunity to learn to express their Pro-Life beliefs in a coherent, organized way, thus allowing them to better articulate their knowledge when confronted with opposing viewpoints.  All participants were also offered a discount on registration for Team LIFE Camp for high school students, another opportunity serving to educate and equip students in their Pro-Life beliefs.
