Football announcer shares story of Ohio State “miracle baby”

Fox Sports announcer Gus Johnson shared Ohio State University star running back J.K. Dobbins’ incredible Pro-Life story during Saturday’s highly publicized OSU vs University of Michigan football game.

After the record breaking athlete scored his fourth touchdown of the game, Dobbins ran an incredible 211 yards against the Wolverines, a career high that prompted applause from fans and praise from the announcers.  But Pro-Life football fans were amazed when Johnson went a step further, praising Dobbins’ mother for her bravery in choosing Life.

“J.K. Dobbins’ mom, Mya, became pregnant when she was 18 years old,” Johnson said.  “She went to the doctor because she was thinking about aborting the baby, but changed her mind.”

As the camera focused on Dobbins removing his helmet among hugs and high-fives from his coaches and teammates, Johnson continued “That baby turned out to be that young man, J.K. Dobbins, who she calls her ‘miracle baby.’”

Pro-Lifers know that not every child grows up to become a football star, but every child, born or preborn, has infinite inherent value and dignity.  Stories like Dobbins’ help to remind us that every child also has incredible potential, regardless of his or her circumstances, and that God can use any situation to build His Kingdom.

Mya’s brave choice for Life at only 18 years of age brought about not only a fine young athlete with a promising career, but also gave the audience of the “biggest rivalry in college sports” to hear a wonderful Pro-Life message during the second most watched game of the season!

God be praised for this Pro-Life message, and may He help us all provide the community and support mothers like Mya need to choose Life.
