Call to action: Pro-Life co-authors

With only a few days left in the First Called Special Session of the 85th Legislature, not one of the five Pro-Life bills from Governor Abbott’s priorities have made their way through the full legislative process.  Co-authors can demonstrate their support for protecting innocent human Life by adding their names to the proposed legislation.  Additionally, co-authorship indicates the will of the members to move that bill to the floor for a winning vote.

Thankfully, 69 members of the Texas House of Representatives have signed on to all five Pro-Life bills.  We offer a special thanks to these legislators:

This list of legislators with gold stars for co-authoring all five Pro-Life bills comprises nearly 75% of House Republicans.  If your representative isn’t on this list, call his or her office and ask him or her to co-author all five of the Pro-Life bills on the call for this special session.  The bill numbers are House Bill 12, 13, 14, 214, and 215.  See the short summary of the bills here.

If you live in or near Corsicana, please help move the Pro-Life bills through the legislative process by calling your representative, Byron Cook (R-Corsicana), who chairs the House Committee on State Affairs.  All five Pro-Life bills have been sent to this committee for the special session, and two of the five are currently languishing there, awaiting further action.  Call Chairman Cook and ask him to vote HB 12/SB 11 out of committee and send HB 14, a bill to defund the abortion industry, to the House Committee on Calendars so the bills can be set on the House calendar for floor debate and passage.
