Protest Planned at Houston’s new “Abortion Super Center”

Thousands of Pro-Life supporters are being called to protest the country’s largest abortion clinic set to open soon in Houston, Texas. TheCall in crisis Gathering, scheduled over the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, starts at 6 p.m. on January 17 with four hours of fasting and prayer at Grace Community Church in Houston. On the morning of January 18th, a silent march beginning at the Catholic Charismatic Center will end at the building site of the new Planned Parenthood Abortion Clinic, a six-story, 78,000 square foot building, which will include a surgical floor equipped to provide late-term abortions.

With this new facility, Planned Parenthood continues to target low-income, minority families and has strategically placed the new clinic in the middle of Hispanic and African American neighborhoods and directly across the street from the University of Houston’s downtown campus.

Lou Engle, founder of the Pro-Life group The Call to Conscience, and organizer of the TheCall in crisis Gathering, recently spoke to a group of Houston Pro-Life advocates and religious leaders, describing the clinic as “an abortion super center” and expressing the need for support at the upcoming gathering.

In the spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr., Engle is seeking to expose the truth about the new Planned Parenthood clinic and the vast number of targeted abortions that will be performed there. His efforts have some high profile support: Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King, Jr. is a Pro-Life advocate.

“If the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is to live, our babies must live,” Ms. King said.  “Our mothers must choose life. If we refuse to answer the cry of mercy from the unborn, and ignore the suffering of the mothers, then we are signing our own death warrants.”

Alveda King, like her uncle, has a dream for this country that protects the rights of the unborn.

“I have a dream that the men and women, the boys and girls of America will come to our senses, and humble ourselves before God Almighty and pray for mercy, and receive His healing grace. I pray that this is the day, the hour of our deliverance. May God have mercy on us all.”

                                                                                    Alveda King

Following the march, Engle will hold a nationwide press conference and prayer stand. He is expected to be joined at the rally by Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council; Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference; Bishop Harry Jackson, senior pastor of Hope Christian Church; Richard Land, president of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention; Star Parker, president of the Coalition for Urban Renewal and Education; and Abby Johnson, the former director of the Planned Parenthood in Bryan, TX.
