Texas Right to Life PAC issues five early endorsements

by Texas Right to LifeFriday, November 11, 2011

Dr. Joseph Graham, President of Texas Right to Life, announced:  "These tenured candidates have proven to be Pro-Life leaders, and Texas Right to Life is confident that they will continue to advance the cause in their new positions.  We proudly recommend these five candidates as the ones who can best speak for the voiceless in their respective new offices."

Texas Right to Life Political Action Committee has issued early endorsements to five candidates seeking new office; these candidates are strong advocates for the unborn, the elderly, and the infirm and share Texas Right to Life’s goals of defending the sanctity of innocent human life at all stages.  Each candidate who earns Texas Right to Life PAC’s endorsement has undergone our rigorous screening process that includes not simply a questionnaire, but also personal meetings in which thorough exploration of Pro-Life convictions, governing philosophy, understanding of constitutional and civil rights, other Pro-Life issues, and campaign viability are discussed.  Many candidates oppose abortion yet fall short of our criteria for full endorsement.

Texas Right to Life PAC will interview and screen additional candidates after the filing deadline in December.  Endorsements resulting from those meetings will be issued in early 2012.  The PAC has issued the following early endorsements:

Lieutenant Governor  David Dewhurst for US Senate

Rep. Ken Paxton for Texas Senate District 8

Rep. Randy Weber for Texas Congressional District 14
