REveAL Summer Camp

by Texas Right to LifeMonday, August 16, 2010

Are you in high school?  Do you like vacationing with friends?  Join us at REveAL where you will meet people who are like-minded and become savvy on Pro-Life issues that affect you.

How fun will it be to spend a weekend learning about Pro-Life issues?  Think caffeine and Oreos; popcorn, cheese puffs, and movies (Pro-Life of course!); swimming, volleyball, and basketball; and a campfire and dancing!  This is all to prevent your brains from exploding with information on how abortion was legalized, what Planned Parenthood really does, who founded the world’s largest abortion business, what real options are available to women, and more!

REveAL: July 20-23, 2013

REveAL2: July 23-27, 2013

Meet this year's Head Counselors!

Emily Alders

Why do you want to be a counselor at REveALWe’re going to win and Camp REveAL is a REAL training ground for some very REAL Pro-Life warriors! I’m stoked!

What do you hope this year’s campers take away from camp?  Most of all, I hope the campers leave REveAL knowing they are not alone. I want them to be encouraged and I want them to be motivated. This fight belongs to our generation and I want them to own it.

Favorite part of camp?  I love the lectures, I love the games, BUT I especially love the club meetings and activities the clubs get to do together. This particular characteristic of camp helps build relationships in ways that all the other “fun” activities can’t. We do have fun, but we also tackle serious life issues and discuss things that most people never give any thought to. In such conversations, hearts show through and we get to know the person deeper than before. I love it!

Pro-Life role model?  Voddie Baucham without a doubt. I have so many Pro-Life heroes but from my first introduction to Voddie at TRTL Fellow training in 2010, I’ve had so much respect for him and how he strives to live out his Pro-Life beliefs by how he’s expanded his wonderful family. He’s outspoken and tells the truth, but doesn’t just talk the talk or say all the right things. I hope that I can follow the incredible example he has set forth.

Favorite camp food?  Definitely the ice cream bars. I’m a huge ice cream fan, but you just can’t beat something cold and sweet on a hot day in the woods!

Do you have any special talents?  I love to play the piano!

Joseph Francis

Why do you want to be a counselor at REveALI decided to become a counselor for REveAL because I was invited by a friend of mine to counsel at the camp last year. I enjoyed it so much that I am coming back this year as a head counselor.

What do you hope this year’s campers take away from camp?  I hope that the campers will come away from REveAL with a greater knowledge of what it means to be Pro-Life, with a stronger conviction to stand up for the dignity of all human persons, and better prepared to defend them.

Favorite part of camp?  My favorite part about camp is getting to spend time with the campers who come. They are there because they believe in the Pro-Life movement, and they are always a lot of fun!

Pro-Life role model?  My Pro-Life hero is Arland Nichols (Director of Education and Evangelization at Human Life International). He's a really smart guy (and a graduate of Texas A&M... WHOOP!).

Do you have any special talents?  My special talents include beard-growing and playing the Bagpipes.

Here’s what past campers had to say about REveAL:

“My favorite part of camp was the relationships that were made and the unforgettable memories.  I loved the bonds created between campers and counselors. - Ali

The best part of club time was working together on the skits--that was a lot of fun!" - Max

I think I'm too young to be a counselor, but I want to come back next year!" - Mattie Lee

Karen Reynolds was definitely my favorite speaker!  She really helped me not be so shy when I'm talking with people I don't know." - Glori

Camp was great and the counselors rocked!" - Matt

Can't wait to go out and protect all the life I can!" - Frida

I learned so much about abortion that I'm going to do something about it!  I'm coming to both camps next year." - Amity

The biggest problem campers had?...It was not long enough!
